Job Title: Estimating Coordinator

Job Description/Summary:

The Estimating Coordinator provides clerical support to the Sr. Estimator and Estimator as they analyze plans, specifications, proposals and other documents in order to prepare cost and labor estimates for projects and services performed by company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains the efficiency and organization of the Estimating Dept. by providing strong clerical support, meeting minutes, project information, project startup and bid forms.
  • Organize and maintain the subcontractor/supplier database as well as provides the support to ensure all information is current.
  • Attendance at job walks, bid openings and bid submittals including but not limited to bid forms, subcontractor lists, meeting minutes, pictures and analysis.
  • Organize and maintain website including the posting and organization of bid documents.
  • Assists in procurement process including documentation, data input, communication and analysis.
  • Assists in analyzing blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost materials, and labor estimates.
  • Assists in developing bidder’s interest on projects (i.e. phone calls, emails, website, etc.)
  • Assists in subcontractor communication and clarifications on projects bidding.
  • Prepares itemized cost breakdown estimates for projects.
  • Analyzes completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determines reasons for discrepancies.

Job Knowledge:

  • Ability to effectively present complicated information in an effective manner and respond to questions from user groups and clients.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Sage estimating software as well as ProCore, Microsoft Excel and Word (or other Construction Software)
  • Must have strong construction math skills (working with cubic yds. tons, sq. footage, linear footage) ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Strong numerical skills for calculations including algebra and geometry.
  • Building and Construction-Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction industry.

Minimum Education and/or Experience, Certifications/Licenses required:

  • Two year college degree (AA)
  • One to two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid driver’s license
