Klassen Corporation was the general contractor and coordinator of the structural engineering of North of the River’s Recreation and Park District’s new community center. The site includes a 20,000 sq. ft. gymnasium, 2,600 sq. ft. multi-purpose building, and 3,000 sq. ft. district offices.
The facility includes parking, restrooms, group picnic areas, children’s play area, open turn play areas, turf volleyball, gymnasium, community center and administrative offices.
Details regarding the gymnasium include its double gym accommodations that can be separated by a dividing curtain. The expansive facility includes amenities for both volleyball and basketball, boasting double score boards and up to twelve basketball hoops.
Building characteristics include translucent panels on the upper walls which allow for day-lighting in the facility.
After the facility was completed, Klassen Corporation was later commissioned to design and build the administration wing of the facility. This administration wing is the headquarter office of the NOR staff and consists of offices, meeting spaces, storage, and reception areas.
