Klassen Corporation was chosen to provide Architectural services for Bakersfield High School’s Modernization and Expansion. The campus holds significant historical value for the city of Bakersfield, so maintaining its structure is important.
The comprehensive project includes the modernization of the Stadium Field and the remodel of the Locker Rooms below the grandstands. The Griffith Stadium Modernization is the first phase in a 10 year, $150 million campus modernization, which will incorporate Warren Hall, Industrial Arts modernizations, site ADA work, and site infrastructure.
Adjacent to Griffith Stadium are the additional home-side bleachers, which complete the original design from 1923. Below the new bleachers are the Equipment Room and Exercise Room. The famous “tunnel” field entrance for the football players was maintained and preserved. The new facilities include Home and Visitors’ Concession Restrooms, and Visitors’ bleachers. The Modernization also incorporates a new artificial turf football field and synthetic track.
The project also includes a modernization of the School’s Warren Hall. This modernization will include safety enhancements, upgraded materials, window upgrades, ceiling lighting, renovation of restrooms, and classrooms.
