Klassen Corporation was chosen to serve as the Construction Program Manager by Antelope Valley Community College District’s $200+ Million Capital Improvement Program, where the following 7 major projects were established.

WEST CAMPUS EXPANSION
The West Campus Expansion project develops two 10-acre parcels of undeveloped land and renovates another 35 acres of property resulting in 55 acres of total improvements. Due to the complexity of the project, six specific Facilities Master Plan project requirements were combined into one project, including: New Northwest Parking Lots; Renovation and Expansion of Parking Lot #3; ADA Safety and Code Compliance Upgrades; Renovation and Expansion of Physical Education Fields; Renovation of Marauder Stadium; and Infrastructure Improvements. A critical portion of the West Campus Expansion project was the installation of new campus infrastructure. The first phase of the project included a new campus storm drain system; other infrastructure improvements include water for irrigation, fire suppression and domestic uses, electricity for lighting and operational requirements, technology for the emergency phone system and other voice/data requirements and sewer for restrooms.

HEALTH AND SCIENCE CENTER
The 107,000 square foot complex is the largest on campus and contains 44,000 square feet for labs and classrooms to support Biological sciences and physical sciences. Another 21,000 square feet is devoted to health Sciences programs including nursing, emergency medical services, surgical, cardiovascular and radiologic technology. Special features of the building include a planetarium, a surgery demonstration lab and an outdoor botany greenhouse. The remainder of
the building Includes 10,000 square feet of classroom space, faculty offices, computer lab, and a café.

THEATRE ARTS FACILITY
Klassen served as Construction Manager for the Theatre Arts Facility. The 32,126 square foot, 400-seat theatre, 2,701 square foot main stage, lobby, scene shop, coat room, prop storage, ticket box office, green room, theatre manager’s office, men’s and women’s dressing rooms, co-ed makeup room, sundry meeting rooms, offices, costume storage and lighting shop.

MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS
The 48,418 square foot, one story Facilities Service and Receiving/Warehouse complex houses the campus warehouse, maintenance, operations, planning offices, maintenance and operations shop, and a storage and charging garage for electric utility cars. It also includes 6,000 square feet of outbuildings for equipment and materials storage, as well as a trash and recycle area.

The Facility Service department includes the functions of facilities planning, building maintenance, grounds maintenance, custodial services, campus events transportation services and recycling and waste management services.

P.E AND SPORTS FACILITIES
The new northwest parking lots (Lot #1 & Lot #2) and the expansion of parking lot #3 provides an additional 600 parking spaces to meet the forecasted growth of the college as well as provide parking for the community who utilize the athletic facilities. Safety measures include state-of-the-art lighting systems and an emergency phone system. Other athletic renovations include two regulation soccer fields, two physical education fields, half-mile running track with fitness circuit, law enforcement academy obstacle practice course, baseball stadium, softball stadium, and track and field throws area. The renovation of Marauder Stadium provides the first major facelift for this heavily used venue in over 40 years. The multipurpose stadium has been updated to meet current standards for football, soccer and track and field.
